One of the biggest things Croteam worked on for Serious Sam: Xbox was stabilizing the netcode and making it much more efficient, as well as removing those annoying disconnects. Included with the game are both Split-Screen(up to 4 players) and System-Link(up to 8 players) multiplayer modes. You can choose from nine different player models, including two girls - Serious Sammy and Meesterious Mia - as well as Santa Sam and some others. Needless to say, all of the models look fantastic.
Unfortunately, I was unable to do extensive testing of the multiplayer aspects of the game. I was able to play co-op with a friend, but due to the lack of anyone within 500 miles of me having the game, I was unable to thoroughly test it. The amount that I did play of co-op was very fun, however, and after over two hours of playing we never noticed any graphics slowdowns or sync problems. The game does include several brand-new Deathmatch levels as well.
Unfortunately, XBox Live! is not supported by the game, making it difficult to get a large multiplayer game going. But...There is a solution: XBConnect. Hopefully, by the time you have the game in your hands, XBConnect will have added support for Serious Sam: XBox, allowing you to connect to players all over the world and play online for free.
