GameSpy Master Server Replacement |

If you haven't heard, GameSpy's Master Servers will be shut down permanently on May 31st, 2014.
FYI: The Master Server collects information about currently active game servers and sends your game browser a list of these servers so that you can choose one to play on. This is what allows players to find each other and play together.
After May 31st you will no longer be able to find any servers to play on through GameSpy (the in-game server browser). However, thanks to enterprising individuals in the Serious Sam community, there is now an Alternative Master Server you can use.
[Rocketers] Alex, has created his own Master Server software that emulates the same features of the original GameSpy server. 42 Amsterdam has kindly offered to host this new Master Server software so that you can continue to play games online.
Now comes the fun part. To access the new Master Server you will need to patch some files (Engine.dll for Classic and OnlineGS.dll for Serious Sam 2). Fortunately, [Rocketers] Alex and Louva-Deus have created two ways to patch those files.
Serious Sam Launcher by [Rocketers] Alex
Compatible with:
- Serious Sam The First Encounter v1.05
- Serious Sam The Second Encounter v1.05
- Serious Sam The Second Encounter v1.07
- Serious Sam 2
This launcher requires you to locate your existing installations of The First Encounter, The Second Encounter, and Serious Sam 2 to work (easy!) and then select the new Master Server (gs.ostap.eu) and patch the Engine.dll and OnlineGS.dll files with that server address.
How to use:
- Launch Serious Sam Launcher.exe (allow the process if UAC pops up)
- Locate your game folders by clicking on the appropriate "Choose" button and browse to those locations on your computer (only supports TFE v1.05, TSE v1.05, v1.07, SS2)
- Choose the gs.ostap.eu Master Server from the dropdown list
- Click on the "Write" button
- Done!
GameSpy Master-Server Patcher by Louva-Deus
Compatible with:
- Serious Sam The First Encounter (All Versions)
- Serious Sam The Second Encounter (All Versions)
- Serious Sam 2 (All Versions)
This patcher requires you to extract it to the Bin folder in every copy of the game you want to update and then run a batch file that will patch the appropriate dll file with the new Master Server (gs.ostap.eu). It also allows you to remove the patch with a separate batch file.
How to use:
- Extract the contents of the SeriousSamClassic_GameSpy_Patcher.zip file into the Bin folder of your Serious Sam game (works on all versions of TFE, TSE, and SS2)
- Run LD_Bypass_Gamespy.bat
- Done!
How to remove changes:
- Run LD_Restore_Gamespy.bat
- Done!
