Hmmm... This is odd. The soldiers on the hill make it and the grass look less realistic... I think there's a difference in how much fog obscures them or something...

Yeah, looks like the models aren't being fogged, they'll sort it.

Actually though, I don't see any fogging if you look into the distance, it must just be the colour of the building and hill, it's just the way they stand out so much on a background with relatively little contrast.

It looks like they have no shadows. Makes it look like the characters are pasted over th image.

Please don't expect to see screenshots of the finished game when we are still in the process of making it ; )
Stencil shadows have since been added and they make them look like standing more in the landscape. So your points are valid.
The models don't look fogged because the structure you see is well over half a Kilometer away. If you look closely at the little structure to the right, you'll see small things sticking up from the plateux. Those are about the size of a man (crouched) which shoudl give you an idea of size.
The fogging simply doesn't start yet at these close ranges ; )
